Gift Certificates

Just in time for the holiday season, gift certificates are now available in the Bailey Aro Photography shop on Etsy! These are a wonderful gift idea for the art lover in your life. Gift certificates can be purchased here, and they are available in $25, $50, $75, $100, and $150 amounts. 

Custom amounts are also available starting at $25, so please contact me if you’re interested.

To purchase a gift certificate, first register on Etsy (if you aren’t already – it’s free and easy!) Simply add the gift certificate to your cart on Etsy and follow the payment instructions. You do not need to provide a shipping address. Simply provide your email address.

Within two days of payment, you will receive your gift certificate via email as a PDF. You can then print it out and deliver to the joyous recipient!

Holiday Greeting Cards

You can now spread the love this holiday season with the following message: “Peace is possible only by true love.”  The image on these greeting cards was captured in the Everest Region of the Nepal Himalayas, the message scrawled in red paint on the whitewashed side of a Tibetan Buddhist stupa. 

This particular card is now available in sets of four. Use them for your holiday greetings, or give them as gifts! They are blank inside for your own personalized message. They are also suitable for framing.

Today is the International Day of Peace, or Peace Day.

As of this morning (and I say this while knocking on wood), jailed hikers Shane Bauer and Josh Fattal have been released. After over two years of unjust imprisonment and an unreal roller coaster, they appear to be on their way home.

According to early morning reports, they have been freed on bail and are now preparing to depart Iran. I’m crossing my fingers and doing a little dance at the same time. This is awesome, and especially today.

I have to wonder if Peace Day has any relevancy in the timing of their release. In any case, it’s wonderful happenstance.

To celebrate and help spread some peace, I’m hosting a small giveaway today. Anyone who makes a print purchase in the Bailey Aro Photography Etsy shop before midnight will receive a complimentary greeting card featuring my photograph, “The Mantra.”

This is one of my most popular images and greeting cards, and the message resonates: “Peace is possible only by true love.”

I captured this under a spellbinding blue sky in the Everest region of the Nepal Himalayas. The words were graffitied on the side of a whitewashed stupa, or Tibetan Buddhist monument.  Altitude: approximately 13,000 feet. Heaven.

It’s a Thursday morning.

I’m sipping steamy coffee from my Penang, Malaysia Starbucks mug. Outside, it’s a cloudless blue summer day. Inside, I’m buzzing around doing last-minute prep for this weekend’s Wine Meets Art Festival in Stillwater, MN.

I was approached by Saint Croix Vineyards a couple of weeks ago, and I jumped at the chance to set up shop alongside top artists from the region.

I’ll be offering nearly 100 different images for sale, including a newly-crafted line of blank greeting cards (see image above).

All of my images are printed on metallic paper, which equals bold, gorgeous pop (I could be talking about lash-plumping mascara, too, couldn’t I?).

Adoption notice:

Have an empty hallway or blank office wall? A framed BA Photography piece might make a lovely addition. This weekend, I’ll be toting along several of my framed pieces from my “Breaking into Blossom” exhibit. They are massive, high-impact fine art pieces for the home (from 19×25 up to 31×43). For me, bigger is always better when it comes to printed images!

Wine Meets Art Festival {Details}

When: Saturday, August 13- Sunday, August 14, 11 AM-5 PM both days

Admission: FREE! All ages welcome.

Sample local food, beer, and, of course, wine (there will be $5 wine tastings!)

There’s a full line-up of great musicians all weekend long, including Nikki Matteson & The Ruemates, Dean Magraw & Marcus Wise, and The Copper Field.

Saint Croix Vineyards is also directly adjacent to Aamodt’s Apple Farm, so there is plenty to see and do in the immediate area!

I know, I know. Funnest: it’s not a word.

Forgive me. I tend to use poor grammar when I’m excited. In this case, it’s about Etsy.

Etsy fills me with unbridled glee. And if you’re not an Etsian yet, then I want to share this glee with you.

Etsy is an online marketplace of handmade crafts, vintage items, and supplies. Artisans of all shapes and sizes set up shops on Etsy to make their amazing creations more accessible to the art-lovin’ masses.

I sell my non-portrait work on Etsy.

I run a cute little virtual store full of abstract flora, billowing flower petals, and exotic landscapes.

All of my images are available as loose prints. This means they arrive to you unframed and unmatted. It’s an affordable way to decorate your dusty pink powder room, your sage green living space, your brown boudoir – you get the idea.

Prints are available starting at 5×5 inches all the way up to 24×36. Click on the image to the left to see the full range of sizes available.

Some of my prints are mounted on 16×20 mat board. Don’t let this turn you off – it’s just one less step for you in the custom framing game. Mounted prints allow you to later choose a custom window mat and frame that fits harmoniously with your decor.

Also, I’m very open to custom orders: one-of-a-kind dealios. If there’s an image you covet (perhaps you’ve seen it floating around Facebook, but it’s not in my Etsy shop), I can print it. And I love (seriously, love) oversized prints, so I can indeed print larger than 24×36. Don’t be shy – just ask!

For starters, it’s 100% free to register.

Etsy is a place for crafters of all skill levels to buy unique and affordable supplies, and it’s also a great place for vintage junkies to go hunting. Etsy has many cool search tools that let you search by color, category, and even geographic location of the seller. It makes buying local for birthdays and holidays gratifying, simple and fun.

There are also tons of international crafters who sell globally-influenced jewelry, art and clothing. It’s the anti-shopping mall. It’s the World’s Funnest Arts & Crafts Fair!

I’m a girl who’d never seen real mountains before, apart from the hazy desert molehills of Arizona. In October 2010, I set foot in Nepal with a 52-liter Granite Gear pack, hand-in-hand with my dear boyfriend and traveling companion. Life has never been the same.

Three weeks of arduous trekking, two bouts of food poisoning and hundreds of breathtaking panoramas later, we returned to Kathmandu (the capital) trail-worn, 30 pounds lighter, and soul happy. Of course, my trusty Pentax made the trek too, along with a team of lenses.

What follows are three of my favorite atmospheric shots from the region: to me, they feel like oxygen – like breathing fresh, pure, unforgiving mountain air.
