Kelsey & Eli: North Shore Minnesota WeddingJune 10, 2016
Kelsey & Eli met through a mutual friend back in 2007. According to them, it was true love at first sight and in a car wash, of all places! Despite long distance, nightly phone calls soon became routine. Kelsey was attending school in Duluth, while Eli launched his logging business in Hurley, Wisconsin.
“Our life together truly evolves around the woods and logging!” Kelsey says. “Eli proposed to me (in summer 2014) at a logging show unveiling the new ScorpionKing machine for Ponsse North America — Eli was the machine’s operator. While the demonstration continued on, the ScorpionKing hugged a medium-sized hardwood, severed it, laid it down, ran the butt out a half-dozen feet, and proceeded toward the spectators, slowly bringing the tree and harvester within a few feet of myself and co-consipirator Diana. Puzzled with what was happening, (I was led) closer to the tree to examine the ‘hole,’ which I soon discovered held the ring of our forever together!”
Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kelsey & Eli celebration without some heavy logging machinery involved! Their North Shore wedding day was no exception. A few minutes before the ceremony, we got the low-down: When the officiant said, “Can we have the rings, please?” the ScorpionKing of proposal lore would fire up & trundle down the pathway toward the Grand Superior Lodge ceremony site, bearing the rings. Although Kelsey had her suspicions, only Eli & the driver knew beforehand. When the moment came, Kelsey’s nephews retrieved the rings with a glee typically reserved for double-scoop waffle cones.
When I first met these two over a year ago, I knew we’d be a great fit, because while they love personal, meaningful details, they are focused on building a strong marriage beyond just the wedding day. Their day was filled with beautiful details, while still keeping family + friends at the forefront, including those no longer with them, whose spirits were felt throughout the entire day.
Notice how I almost forgot to mention the rain? Oh, the rain! It drizzled almost constantly. But! A few umbrellas & an adventurous spirit made for gorgeous images + didn’t put a damper on any festivities. A special note to my future couples concerned about fickle Minnesota weather: After viewing this post, I bet your worries will be put to rest. 😉
