“I really want to do a Boudoir Session, but…”
I need to get in shape first.
My body isn’t ready yet.
I recently put on weight.
I need my “summer body” first.
I just need to lose X more pounds.
When it comes to this kind of self-talk, we justify it all day long. We argue that it’s about getting healthy, becoming stronger, and achieving personal goals (all worthy pursuits, of course). But if you don’t love & accept your body as it is, right now in this moment, you’re going to have a long road ahead.
We often think that by reaching Goal A, we will achieve Feeling B. But Feeling B isn’t a guarantee. The truth is, you might never feel _______ enough. However, you do have the power to choose how to feel — right now — and see what unfolds because of that mindset.
And it all starts with how you speak to yourself.
“I can do a boudoir session at any time, regardless of my weight or size.”
“I love my body right now, even if I haven’t reached my goal weight / fitness level yet.”
“I’m a work in progress, and I embrace that.”
“My inner beauty always radiates, regardless of the shape + size of my hips & thighs.”
This exercise works for virtually anything you don’t feel qualified or “ready” for. Put ’em on Post-Its, say ’em out loud, write ’em with your finger on the steamy bathroom mirror — the point is: Flip the script & watch what happens.
It comes down to this: I want you to love yourself better. Trust me — I have PLENTY of days where I don’t love my body, but I still choose to show up & do what I feel called to do. Join me, will you?
